Frequently asked questions
How long should a video title be?
YouTube allows 100 characters, but titles are often cut off after about 60 to 70 characters in feeds and on phones. Put the most important words first.
How accurate are these mockups?
They copy the typical sizes and line limits of popular video layouts, and measure your real title with real fonts. Every device is a little different, so treat them as a close guide.
What makes a thumbnail stand out?
Big readable text (three to five words), a clear face or subject, strong contrast and colors that differ from the videos around it. The home feed view shows yours next to other videos so you can judge.
Is my thumbnail uploaded?
No. Everything is drawn in your browser. Nothing is posted or shared anywhere.
My image is the wrong shape. What now?
Send it through the Social Media Cropper with the YouTube thumbnail preset to get a perfect 1280 x 720 image.
