Frequently asked questions

How does PDF compression work here?

Keep text rebuilds the PDF and removes extras such as metadata, which keeps everything selectable but saves only a little. Strong draws each page as a JPG image at the size you choose, which saves a lot on scans and photos.

Why did my file not get smaller?

Text-only PDFs are already compact, and turning them into images can make them bigger. GlowPress shows both sizes and warns you when the result is larger, so you can keep your original.

Will Strong mode keep my text searchable?

No. Each page becomes a picture, so you cannot select, search or copy the text, and links stop working. Use Keep text for contracts, forms and anything you need to edit.

Is my PDF uploaded?

No. Compression runs in your browser with PDF.js and pdf-lib, so the document never leaves your device.

Which strength should I pick for email?

Balanced is a good start. If the file is still too big for your email limit, try Smallest file or tick black and white for text documents.
